Nachman Ullman, DO

Growing up in a large loving family I have learned to appreciate the beauty of life in its most natural and purest of form. Being brought up in a family where the love and appreciation of life made up for what finances and economics were not able to obtain, despite two hard working parents, has demonstrated that love and caring can be very soothing and nurturing. Having a sibling that was handicapped and required 24 hr care — provided by her family, at a time when it was unheard of for such delicate children to be at home, again demonstrated that tender loving care interspersed with experienced knowledge, can do more than using every drug or procedure known to mankind. At the same token the few procedures and medical interventions that were needed were appreciated.

This background is what shaped my career and philosophy. I was spurned to find a career where I can help others by instilling the same love of life and ‘Can-Do” attitude that I was infused with during my childhood. This directed me to find a career in medicine.

Training as an Osteopathic Physician gave me unique tools and philosophies not available or used by most physicians. Feeling the need for more, in addition to doing an internship in adult medicine, Residency training in Pediatrics was obtained followed by a Fellowship in Critical Care. After working in a very rewarding field of Critical Care Transportation and Pediatric Critical Care, the idea that I could reach out to more individuals by working as a Hospitalist and an Emergency Room Physician drew me to those fields in multiple vastly different demographic and socioeconomic communities. To me, this was an amazing dream come true; helping individuals and families from the broadest backgrounds while instilling a love for life.

Yet as time moved on and the landscape of medicine began to change dramatically and taking great individualized care of patients was becoming challenging, it felt like my focus was being lost. Therefore, to energize my commitment to my patients and to be true to myself, I completed additional Fellowship Training in Integrative Medicine. This education has been transformative! Although I am thrilled to have had my prior experience, had Integrative Medicine been included in my initial training I would have had the potential to be a far greater provider.

It is with all of the above experience, training, motivation and love of life that has geared me to be the most suited medical provider for my patients. It is with our philosophy, desire for both of us to see each other flourish medically, physically, emotionally and spiritually that will make us a unique team. It is our desire to want and let our body take the lead in healing itself, with us as a team — helping it along as needed. It is with this background that allows me to stand out and be a phenomenal partner in helping my patients live the best life they can.
